Environmental protection
The term "environmental protection" includes all measures that are meant to prevent damaging influences on the environment, or to either fully remedy already-existing damages or at least reduce them to a tenable scale. In the transportation sector, environmental protection stands primarily for emissions protection. With fully loaded vehicles, empty runs and thus senseless exhaust emissions are avoided, therefore contributing to protect the environment. A very efficient instrument to avoid empty runs are freight exchanges.
